At the former headquarters of the Gustavo Gili publishing house, the finalist and winning projects of the International Architecture Competition reimagining the Fira de Barcelona were on display.
Models, panels, and architectural visions from around the world explore how to transform this key site, coinciding with the 100th anniversary of the 1929 International Exhibition.
The event featured the participation of Maria Buhigas, Chief Architect of the Barcelona City Council; Josep Lluís Mateo, president of the jury; Albert Civit, General Director of Fira 2000; and the three winning teams.

Fira de Barcelona together with Barcelona City Council & Generalitat de Catalunya have announced the winners of the international competition to redesign key areas of its Montjuïc venue, as part of a major transformation ahead of the 2029 centenary of the International Exposition. The selected projects are:
New Multifunctional Hall (2029 Artefacto) developed by the team comprising Smiljan Radić, Miquel Mariné Núñez, Beatriz Borque, and César Rueda Bonet
Palau de Congressos de Barcelona (Umbracle) has been presented by Forgas Architectes, Archambac (Arquitectura Sideral) and Álvaro Alejandro Fernández.
Fira Barcelona Innovation Hub (L’Avantsala de la Fira) signed by Bjarke Ingels Group and MIAS Arquitectura.
The jury chaired by Josep Lluís Mateo and made up of five renowned experts, praised the proposal for its sustainable approach, respect for Montjuïc’s heritage, and its capacity to create flexible, innovative spaces for future exhibitions and events.
