Beginning and End
The practice of architecture has a complex relationship with time. Sometimes extraordinarily long between the beginning and the end of the work, and sometimes, as is the case here, the beginning and the end almost overlap.
In the first case, one must resist, learn from experience, and maintain freshness and interest.
The case we are dealing with, which is very fast, concerned part of the end of the urban fabric of Perpignan (France), situated on the border with the train, where nature and city unraveled. Trying to create good living conditions, protecting from the site’s problems (the train), and increasing the presence of nature by giving a conclusion to what was built, were the objectives.
(Fast end, the client disappears.)
